Telstra corporate speak on security issues

Telstra have a security problem with some of the routers they've issued to customers. This problem let attackers could access the routers administrative console, and the customers local network. The customers can't fix it by changing a password, it can only be fixed by a firmware update, so it's quite a problem for routers with these routers.

Yet on Telstra's announcement they say the 'upgrade is to provide an important security enhancement'. It's like they are claiming this upgrade is only providing more security for an already secure product, and they don't have any fine print or links so customers could discover just how severe a problem is fixed with this firmware upgrade.

The original article I linked to says Telstra are ringing affected customers, which ameliorate's the situation to some extent, but this example of corporate speak annoys me.

It's November again, and I've decided to do Movember again. Check out my mo page, and chip in a few dollars for some worth causes.

I've been sporting a beard up until 3 days ago. But the rules of Mo require a clean shave. Andrea is delighted with the result, but I don't like it. Feels like there is a stranger looking back at me in the mirror.
