AMoL Chapter 3

Welcome, come one come all, to chapter three! Within you will find a booty answered, and the start of the Black Tower uprising.

Other posts can be found here. This post will very likely contain spoilers for all WoT books. If you haven't read all of the WoT series, including AMoL you read on at your own risk.
What Happens
Androl and Pevara listen to the turned Welyn talk about how Logain and Taim are all hunky dory now. Jonneth (a Two Rivers recruit) starts to boisterously question Welyn, but is deterred by Lind (the owner of the drinking hall they are in). There is nearly a confrontation between Coteren, Welyn, Mezar against Androl, Nalaam Canler and Pevara.

Rand notices that one of his bonded girls is approaching, and he surprises Aviendha before she can sneak into the tent. With the Aiel Maidens crying insults in the background she explains that the three girls have decided she will bed him tonight, and they retire into his tent.

Androl and Pevara speculate on what's stopping the gateways (we already know it's a dreamspike). They have created a trap for Dobser, one of the turned Ashaman. Unfortunately he had Welyn and Leems following along beside him. Pevara attacks all three of them, and with a little bit of help from Androl clubbing them on the head, they manage to subdue them. Androl is very impressed, Pevara explains the Red Ajah's training focuses on fighting other channelers. But she suffers a slight head injury from the brief fight.

Commentary
Perhaps I've been overstating the danger they face. After all, if they feel comfortable enough about waltzing down to the pub for a pint, then maybe they aren't all that worried. The inn scene did give me a little more hope. There were clearly a lot of people in there, and Androl's musing about how many of the people were not aligned with Taim's group or his group. They also talked about how they are going to rescue Logain, tonight. So that sounds like it will be good reading.

Androl mentions his skill with gateways, and it's not the first time that has been bought up. I can't help but wonder if he's going to do some very interesting things once the dreamspike has been dealt with. I'm imagining gates used as weapons, much like Rand threw his 'deathgates' at the Trollocs back in KoD. I'd really like to see some gateway mazes, or gateway toruses that circle around the target, or something.

What's a torsuse?

I meant a Torus, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torus. I just wanted a shape that is continuous and wraps around, but it probably wouldn't really be very useful here.
